Tip #16: Immerse yourself.

Within one month of meeting my new client, I had written a new company tagline, named a product, and generated ad copy, a press release, a product sheet and content for a 10-page basic website.

This is unusual for me.

What happened was a total immersion in his world, where I was thinking about his company's marketing strategy even when I wasn't working on it. It still goes on.

After doing a brief but intense competitive analysis, which included reading more than a dozen white papers by analysts and insiders, I had so many issues swirling around in my brain, I was reduced to taking notes on my notes to distill it all into salient message points and resonant key words.

Anywho, here's the trick: When you're in crunch mode, immerse yourself in the subject matter so that -- even when you're working on other clients' projects -- the information sinks into your brain and, when it's time to write, flows back out like a burst water main.
