Business blogger Andy Wibbels walks us through the steps he took to migrate a website to a blog platform that pushes the posts via e-newsletter subscriptions. It's a great case study, and when you check out the end result, you'd never know it was a "blog." The platform is transparent. What matters is the content, and the multiple ways users can access it.
The rational behind each decision point is particularly telling:
- Which blog platform? WordPress (self-hosted, customizable, affordable)
- Multiple blogs or categories? Categories (searchable by topic)
- New or existing design? Existing (shorter delivery time)
- Import current content or start fresh? Import 3 months (resource archive)
- Multiple authors or one admin? Multiple (with admin assist in posting)
- Comments or not? Comments (moderated by admin)
The whole process took about a month. Nice job!
